Yes! you heard it right 8/10 engineering graduates are unemployable in India . The question come in now that "What are the reasons behind this scenario ?" And most of the engineers get employed for non - engineering fields like Marketing,Tech Client Support (BPO),
The Answer is Really Simple
Lack Of Minimum Skills Required For Getting Employed
So I am trying put some of the skills which you should start working on if you are about to graduate or will graduate some day.Today I will introduce two main skills you should start working on.You can mark them as you're short term goal you should start working on from mid of March.Later on I would post another article which will help you to develop these skills step by step. So that you don't get stressed or lose interest in self improvement, I have broken it down into simple parts. Just go through this article and next post is on the way .
As simple the fact is the tougher it gets to acquire this minimum skills. Often we take many things for granted which hit us hard in such a way that few of us get a chance to raise up again. So i am mentioning few of the most important or call it basic skills required to get employed and fall in that 20 percent employable class .
Communication Skills are Must :-
No doubt having better communication skills are really the determining factor for being employable in any organisation. I would like to mention something important over here is that I am not only emphasizing on English, but also on how to express yourself in a professional manner ( definitely in corporate world English is mostly considered as Professional Language ).One more point i wanted to stress upon was to use professional English language as much as possible, Using txtslang or SMSish should be avoided. Because no matter how proficient you are in English language using txtslang or worst copying slang words or getting inspired by movie's slang. Don't ruin your existing English skills. Don't worry as developing it is not that much hard as it looks like but its definitely one the of those factors which makes you more desirable candidate . My next blog would be all about how to develop communication skills effectively. At this point I want to make it clear that it will definitely take a some time to develop the art .
Creative Mindset :-
Surprised ? Creative mind is not only required in fields like animation, film making, photography only but mostly in the field of Engineering. Take the examples of tech giants like Apple,Amazon,Google,Facebook have been successful because of their employees creative minds. Being innovative is another skill which has to be developed by every student, there are crisis when it comes to innovative or creative minds in India because of rote learning. This attitude of trying different things and adding skills (not certificates) not only enhances creative side of an individual but also helps in gaining knowledge. It's my personal experience, I have tried everything that came into my way or better say " What I liked " apart from text book learning, taking down notes and cramming the large chunks. Developing a creative attitude is the need of an hour for many of us.Trust me one fine day you can't wake up and have creative side , it takes time.
Conclusion :-
Start stepping out of your comfort zone after reading this article. When you do so you are already on the way to achieve success . Believe me , learn with me . You're suggestions and comments are welcomed always .
